My Bio

Hello Everyone, My name is Yazmeen but you can call me Zora, I am a licensed natural hair consultant and the founder of La Co'coa, LLC. Through a short Q & A questionaire I will answer my most frequently asked questions about myself.

Where are you from?

I am a New York city native and I have been a resident of Raleigh, NC since December of 1999.

Where did the name La Co’coa come from? What does it mean?
What is your company’s mission?

The name La Co’coa pronounced La-Co-Ka comes from "a feel good place where limits and boundaries do not exist." The (La) derives from my love of the Spanish culture and (Co’coa) represents my love for all things chocolate. La Co’coa is the name of my company as well as a concept that means “freedom to be one’s self.” Our mission is to educate, encourage, and empower women to love themselves from head to toe. La Co'coa also strives to help women build a foundation that is centered on God, mind, body, spirit, and self-love.

How long have you been in the business? Did you desire to become a natural consultant? Why do you enjoy what you do?

After working in corporate America for over 15 years, I felt that there were too many restrictions that limited me from helping people. I have always done hair as a hobby and enjoy the sister to sister talks and the bonding that I shared with each person. During the time that I was working on my undergraduate degree, I wanted to start a business where I could take charge of my future, do something I love, and help people fulfill their destiny. It was at this point I decide to combine my love for people and my gift for hair and out of this I birthed La Co'coa. I have been caring and styling hair since middle school as a hobby. I enjoyed doing hair but I did not see it as a career for myself at the time but, I decided to use my gift and take charge of my destiny and become a stylist. There is nothing like the feeling of going to work every day and doing what I enjoy. My career as a natural hair consultant is more than just a job, it is my ministry and a vehicle to my destiny.
